This morning was the official deadline for the MATT & NAT back to school contest. If you’re one of the 90 people who posted on our BLOG over the past few weeks then you are amongst the hopefuls who’s entries we will read, filter, scrutinize, compare, and re-read this week to choose our 10 lucky Student MATT & NAT’ers… And from the looks of all the stories, poems, haikus, pleading, sobbing, and down right sucking up– it will definitely not be an easy task.

So stay tuned everyone: the winners will be announced here on August 29th.

Please note that once the winners are posted, they will have until September 2nd at noon to fax/scan us a copy of their student ID and provincial Medicare card for a proof of eligibility.

In the meantime, get your bags packed and ready to head back to school… and for now you can dream of re-packing them into your very own MATT & NAT.

AFTER 13 YEARS IN THIS BUSINESS, I DECIDED THAT THE TIME WAS FINALLY RIGHT TO TAKE THE DESIGN OF THE COLLECTION IN A NEW DIRECTION.

WITH FALL, THE LINE IS FINALLY WHERE I’VE ALWAYS WANTED IT TO BE. WE’VE INCORPORATED A NUMBER OF NEW MATERIALS, INCLUDING FELT MADE FROM RECYCLED PLASTIC BOTTLES AND TREATED CARDBOARD, MORE HARDWARE DETAILING IN ANTIQUE SILVER AND BRASS, FAUX SUEDE LININGS ALSO MADE FROM RECYCLED PLASTIC BOTTLES, AND PACKAGING MATERIALS THAT ARE 100% RECYCLED MATERIALS. THIS IS THE BEGINNING STAGES OF PHASING PVC OUT OF THE LINE COMPLETELY. BUT THESE CHANGES IN DESIGN AND MATERIAL HAVE REQUIRED US TO INCREASE THE PRICES SOME AND CHANGE AROUND SOME OF OUR POINTS OF DISTRIBUTION.

AND WITH THE NEW SCHOOL YEAR ABOUT TO BEGIN, I’VE BEEN THINKING A LOT ABOUT THE BACK-TO-SCHOOLERS (IT WASN’T SO LONG AGO THAT I WAS A STUDENT MYSELF…OK THAT’S A LIE, IT HAS BEEN A LONG TIME…).
