It’s always fun meeting fellow vegans. I had the chance to sit and chat with Sophie Morro, a very talented illustration artist. Here’s a little overview about her, her art and her new book titled The Apartments of Montreal which showcases 4 young artists’ apartments. Her illustrations reveal an innate beauty that captures the many intricacies of young urban life, which contributes to the city’s authentic character.

Tell us about your favourite piece.
A painting I did for one of my classes, where we had to choose a reference from either art or film history with dramatic lighting and recreate an aspect of it. I chose Harmony Korine’s Spring Breakers as my inspiration with its colorful neon nightclub lighting; I got into character through costume, pink wig and all, photographed myself and painted my Spring Breakers self-portrait.
